Our mission at The Ballet Academy is to provide dance education that fosters creativity and artistry, knowledge and execution of technique, and instills life-long lessons students can carry with them into the professional realm, dance or otherwise.
We believe anyone with the desire to dance should have the opportunity to experience its benefits, regardless of ability, age, financial restraints or other circumstances.
We encourage unity amongst our students creating a positive, non-competitive environment in which students can grow as dancers and as people.
The Ballet Academy’s instructors are current or former professional dancers and choreographers who have worked all over, from Canada to Milwaukee - from Atlanta to New York City - and even in our own back yard at Weathervane Playhouse. Together, our instructors and dance disciplines bring you the most well-rounded dance training available in central Ohio.
Academy Director and Founder Robert Cole danced professionally with the National Ballet of Canada and performed as a guest artist with many illustrious companies. He has trained students who have received scholarships with David Howard, The National Ballet School, The Julliard School, Virginia School of the Arts, Harid Conservatory and Interlochen Arts Academy. Ballet Academy students have also been accepted to and attended the School of American Ballet, Joffrey Ballet School, The American Ballet Theatre School, Boston Ballet School, Pittsburgh Ballet Theater, The Rock and North Carolina School of the Arts.
Amongst our dancers, we strive to create a learning environment in which each dancer feels safe to make mistakes, learn, and grow and feels important within our dance family. We do not tolerate negative and hurtful comments amongst our dancers, instructors, or parents. As a result, our dancers learn to work as a team and build life-long friendships.
Our instructors use constructive corrections and compliments to help our students learn. Outside of the classroom, we support our students with mentoring and support the importance of their academic studies.
